Winthrop University

Leveraging history to craft a modern brand identity and website

Working alongside Winthrop’s marketing team and stakeholders we explored campus architecture, history, culture, and traditions to inform the creation of a logo that would signal a new chapter for the university. Together we identified the following symbols as ownable brand assets: a shield from the university seal, a golden eagle statue, the existing wordmark, and a red and gold color palette used exclusively by the athletic department. With some finessing, we were able to combine these meaningful symbols into one distinctive logo that resonated with Winthrop community members and prospective students alike.

Website Design

Once the visual identity was established, a complete website redesign gave the brand life. A thorough study of user journeys resulted in a modern, responsive, well-organized experience.
