Building on Nike’s brand guidelines and attracting support for the Vols

Through the generosity of its donors, the Tennessee Fund supports student-athletes and athletic programs at the University of Tennessee. In an effort to garner further support, we created two brochures – the Fan Connection Guide and the Vol Rep Brochure.

Fan Connection Guide

When the project started, Nike and UT had just unveiled a new "Tennessee Volunteers" wordmark inspired by the state's unique shape. Fans were excited about the Nike partnership, so the athletic department asked us to feature the mark prominently in our design. Taking inspiration from the 45 degree angles of the wordmark, we incorporated similar design elements throughout the book.

Vol Rep Brochure

Vol Reps are donors who organize events, raise money, and promote UT athletics in their communities. Student-athletes are the main beneficiaries of their efforts, so with this design we chose to highlight individuals performing at the highest level. Keeping the background neutral with grayscale photography allowed us to put the athletes front and center while also emphasize the orange and white color palette.
