Six custom paint schemes to support Pilot’s marketing campaigns

When Pilot teamed up with NASCAR’s Michael Annett and Josh Berry we designed six unique paint schemes, supporting a year’s worth of marketing initiatives – everything from a chicken sandwich launch to a sincere Veteran’s Day tribute.

Two of these standout designs became diecast replicas: the standard scheme and the #1 finishing “Driver Appreciation” car. Available in 1:64 and 1:24 scales, fans could buy these replicas at Target, Walmart, Amazon, NASCAR.com, and Fanatics.com.

Operation Hire Vets

Of all the paint schemes, "Operation Hire Vets" stood out as my favorite for many reasons. The design showcased Pilot's partnership with the Call of Duty Endowment (CODE) by featuring photos of actual Pilot and CODE vets. The photos were arranged in an offset grid and overlayed with a duotone filter to mimic the look of desert camo. Further leaning into the theme, faux rivets, air vents, military symbols, and GPS coordinates of the racetracks were featured in the design. Following the race we designed a commemorative poster and gifted it to the veterans who contributed photos.
